Groups

  • British Championship: open only to British Isles / British Overseas Territories citizens or residents of the past year; English players must hold ECF Gold membership.
  • Major Open: wider rating band, not restricted by British eligibility rules.

Playing system

9-round Swiss, organised by the English Chess Federation as part of a wider festival (age-group and senior events also run 1-9 August).

Classical time control: 40 moves in 90 minutes, then 30 minutes to finish, plus a 30-second increment per move from move 1.
