From August 21 to August 30, edition number 27 of XXVII Sants - City of Barcelona International Chess Open is played in Barcelona, with €21,000 in prizes. It's made up of 3 groups for different rating levels. Registration fees range from €45 to €65.

Groups
- Group A: open to all players, no rating limit. Players from Groups B and C may request to play in Group A.
- Group B: FIDE rating under 1950.
- Group C: FIDE rating under 1650.
Playing system
FIDE (Dutch) Swiss system, 10 rounds.
Time control: 40 moves in 90 minutes plus a 30-second increment per move from move 1, followed by 30 extra minutes with the same 30-second increment until the end of the game.
Schedule
Rounds start at 16:30 every day, except the final round (August 30), which is played at 9:30. The closing ceremony is at 19:30 on the 30th.

Requirements
Valid FIDE licence required. Players with an ESP federation flag must also hold a valid FEDA licence, arranged in advance.
Prizes
Over €21,000 in total prizes. Group A: €5,000 for 1st place, €3,000 for 2nd, €2,000 for 3rd, with prizes down to 20th place. Groups B and C award additional prizes, along with special categories (women, juniors, seniors).
Tiebreaks
Median Buchholz, total Buchholz, number of wins, games played with black, and average rating of opponents. The top eight in Group A (and tied leaders in Groups B/C) settle the title with rapid tiebreak games (5’+3“), with a possible Armageddon.
