From August 1 to August 9, edition number 53 of Sparkassen Chess Trophy 2026 – 53rd International Dortmund Chess Days is played in Dortmund, with €20,000 in prizes. It's made up of 2 groups for different rating levels.

- A-Open: 9 rounds, for advanced players and professionals. Fee: €80 adults, €65 U18, €55 U14. Prizes: €16,000, with €10,000 for the winner.
- B-Open: 8 rounds, played in the mornings. Fee: €70 adults, €60 U18, €50 U14. Prizes: €4,000.
A parallel international women’s event runs at the same venue.
Playing system
Classical Swiss. Time control: 40 moves in 90 minutes, then 30 minutes to finish, plus a 30-second increment per move from move 1.

August 1-9, 2026. A-Open: rounds 1-8 at 15:00 daily, round 9 (Aug 9) at 10:30. B-Open: 8 rounds at 10:30 daily (Aug 1-8).

FIDE ID required. Unrated players need a certificate from their national federation confirming their playing level.
